Warrior

Went to see the new MMA flick Warrior.  I liked this movie alot and thought it was pretty good.  My main problem with movies like this is  the previews are misleading because you see the trailers and think this is going to be a fighting movie with drama mixed in. WRONG, this movie is a drama with a little mma mixed in. This movie is well acted and well written and the fight scenes are put together really well.  The underlying drama with the brothers is very realistic and handled in an honest way. There is a nice little twist concerning one of the main characters that I didn't see coming.  This movie is very enjoyable and I think it will lose some on the dvd so I think it is a must see in theaters. If you like drama and fighting movies this is one to see.

Here's a couple of extra fighting films out on dvd that are worth checking out.

Gladiator (not the Russell Crowe film) this one has Cuba Gooding Jr. and Brian Dennehy very good film about underground boxing.

Diggstown great movie with James Woods and Louis Gossett about boxing and con men. This is a great older movie and you will not be disappointed.

Contagion

First let me start by saying I thought this movie was well acted. Now that being said this movie is not worth the price of admission, they don't develop the interesting story lines enough.  I like Matt Damon but he is completely wasted in this movie as the betrayed husband and overprotective father, Gwyneth is barely even in the movie. I really had high hopes for this movie as I really like the runaway virus movies but the best parts are seen in the trailer.  They don't in my opinion, even begin to show the measures desperate people would go to for medicine and supplies.  This movie is dvd material at best. And by the way I still have no clue why Jude Law was even in this film.  Actually if you want to see a better virus movie rent Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman and Rene Russo at least that movie makes you pull for the main characters.

Fright Night

Went to check out the new Fright Night movie and I must say I enjoyed it. Colin Farrell is actually pretty good as the brooding, mysterious neighbor slash vampire. Anton Yelchin  playing the nerd trying not to be a nerd perfectly. He does great in the movie and holds his own in every scene.  Christopher Mintz-Plasse of Kick-Ass fame is kind of lost in this movie playing the nerdy ex-friend.  The movie has good action and moves along at a very nice pace. Overall I would say it was a good vampire movie with some comedy and action in it. I don't think this movie will lose anything with dvd so unless you are a die-hard vampire or Farrell fan you can wait for the release.
